Kennel Cough

Being in a shelter, this dog has been exposed to or has gone through an episode of Kennel Cough. Symptoms can include sneezing, mucus from the eyes/nose, cough. If your new dog is exhibiting any of these symptoms at home, please follow up with your own veterinarian for care.

Upper Respiratory Infection

Being in a shelter, this cat has been exposed to or gone through an episode of Upper Respiratory Viral Infection. Symptoms can include sneezing, mucus from the eyes/nose, oral lesions. If your new cat is exhibiting any of these symptoms at home, please follow up with your own veterinarian for care.

Dental Health

Your new pet’s dental health will be your financial responsibility. Most pets that come into our care have some level of dental disease and will likely need their teeth cleaned in the next 6-12 months; this may include sedation and extractions (adoption counselor will have more information for each pet).

Puppy Heartworm

Your puppy received a single dose of heartworm preventative while at San Diego Humane Society. At 6 months of age your puppy will be able to have a heartworm test done through your own veterinarian, at your expense.
